PDF BOOKS Scary Stories 3 More Tales to Chill Your Bones Author Alvin Schwartz – 10a.us
The Scary Stories trio was one of the infamous books at my elementary school s library everyone wanted to read them and for good reason they re fun spooky and the illustrations are both beautiful and downright terrifying The stories are a collection of folktales ghost stories and campfire stories meant to be read aloud with a group of friends However they re erfectly scary even if you re just reading them to yourself on a rainy afternoon The stories within these three books range from silly and cheesy to unsettling and scary especially for a book aimed at younger readers But I highly recommend all three books for younger and older readers alike I would also like to note that the new edition of these books with different illustrations should be skipped they have none of the flavor and atmosphere of the originals so get a copy of the original drawings you won t regret it 355Better than the second but nowhere near as good as the first This third volume of the series felt much grown up and interesting compared to the other two The stories were a lot of fun and I loved the urban legends especially I also appreciated the research notes as they give background information about the work of the author Now I want to see the movie Has anyone seen it and can recommend 45 stars YES YES YESFinally I got the chance to read the final set of stories from Alvin Schwartz and Stephen Gammell s controversial yet opular series Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark called Scary Stories 3 More Tales to Chill Your Bones In celebration of Halloween I have decided to revisit this little gem of a series again and I was seriously not disappointedThis book mostly has a set of scary stories that will haunt you in your sleep so here are a couple of stories out of this collection Harold i Ahh the last and final book of the Scary Stories Trilogy and what an amazingly dark and creepier book this one was More Tales to Chill Your Bones was a bit darker and spookier than the first two books and I really loved and enjoyed reading this book so much I remember reading some of the stories when I was a kid and it was a great nostalgic feeling reading stories that I have read when I was a kid The stories I remember reading in this book when I was a kid were The Wolf Girl The Bus Stop and The Red Spot which the red spot gave me the total creeps because it deals with spiders and I so don t like spiders at all I mean every year at the beginning of September and October I always get a lot of spiders crawling in my apartment and I always scream when I see one I don t only get the sm. Scary Stories 3 is a timeless collection of chillingly scary tales and legends in which folklorist Alvin Schwartz offers up some of the most alarming ta.
All spiders but I also get the big black spiders as well in my apartment But the story The Red Spot scare me too because it deals with spiders and spider bites which I actually had a couple of spider bites on me that were small red spots on my skin while I was reading this book And when I was reading The Red Spot it spooked and creeped me out so much that it sent shivers down my spine That I couldn t help but keep on thinking about my spider bites that I actually went out and bought medicine for my spider bites and took care of the spider bites the next day because I didn t want what happened to the character in The Red Spot story happen to me and I tell you I know these stories are fictions folklore and myths But when a story gets to you and scares you as The Red Spot story did to me you know the author did an amazing job creepy you out and just lain scare you after reading each story All and all I so loved and enjoyed reading the final book of the Scary Stories trilogy that I would like to see if I can find books by Alvin Schwartz in the library soon At first I had felt uite disinclined to read this one having read book 1 book 2 I didn t hate those books but I also didn t love them much either They had just been two uick refreshing reads for me and I wasn t interested in this series any But then I thought my OCD thought just a tiny li l book is what I m leaving out in this series and if it doesn t get any better it can t The Art of Standing Still possibly be a waste of time Henc Another great collection of spooky tales Scary Stories 3 is just as good as the original This one contains most of my favorite stories that I remember from reading it so long agoThis is a very beloved book from my childhood along with it s tworeuels I m still not entirely sure why I love something so much that gave me several serious complexes that continue into adulthood but I guess I m just twisted like thatI chose to reread these books due to the Scary Stories movie that came out recently Needless to say the stories didn t scare me like they did when I was a kid but I still found that I was a little creeped out going to the bathroom in the dark so to me that s a win for any book or movie because fiction doesn t scare me easilyIt s filled with mostly creepy short stories with a chapter dedicated to spooky yet humorous stories to make you laugh instead This edition has newer A Ladys Honor (Cliffs of Cornwall, pictures but the original illustrator s drawings are intensely creepy and unmistakably recognizable It serfect for kids 10 12 teens 13 15 or eople 16 that scare really easily and can t handle hardcore horror. All the nostalgia I also enjoyed reading the back sections explaining what each story was based on The illustrations are the best This series of children s horror stories was a favorite of my oldest son He resented me with copies of the books as he was leaving to serve in the Navy Nostalgia from his childhood What he remembered the most was the creepy cool artwork by Stephen Gammell Imagine my horror when I found out while I was re reading the series that when they reprinted the books as a 30th anniversary celebration they changed the artwork While Brett Heluist is a talented artist what made this book series really great was the strange art by Gammell Luckily I have older copies of this series with the weird art intact I investigated online and found examples of Heluists illustrations They are great of a literal interpretation of the storiesbutit just isn t Scary Stories without Stephen Gammell Not sure what the The War to End All Wars publisher was thinking Scary Stories 3 gathers 25 stories from folklore There are notes about the stories and a list of sources in the back As in therior books the stories vary even including a bit of Death Comes for the Archbishop poetry and a song The artworkerfectly accompanies the creepy tales All the tales are middle grade friendly An excellent collection of scary stories I will Mostly Mama pass on the 30th Anniversary edition This series stands out because of the original artwork by Gammell My son remembers these books 17 years after we first read them because of Gammell s artwork It isn t the same outstanding series without the original art I m glad I have the full collection with the original drawings These definitely have aermanent home on my keeper shelf This book is featured on Halloween Reads for Kids is a book full of chilling stories and urban legends which are sure to get you trembling The illustrations are incredibly creepy Footsteps Such Things Happen The Wolf Girl and The Trouble are a few of our favorites It also contains one of our favorite scary The Naked Man poems titled You May Be The Next which also includes the short tune with notes to sing orlayYou May Be The Next Did you ever think as a hearse goes byThat you may be the next to dieThey wrap you up in a big white sheetFrom your head down to your feetAnd the worms crawl in and the worms crawl outIn your stomach and out your snoutAnd your eyes fall out and your teeth decay And that is the end of a erfect dayThese are best read out loud in a group setting in my opinion but can be read alone as well The stories in this book are still creepy to me even as an adult Great to have on the Halloween shelf5.
