Homer Hickam: Crater Trueblood and the Lunar Rescue Company Helium 3 #3

Ent in them would be welcomedLooking for a good book Crater Trueblood and the Lunar Rescue Team has great potential to be a YA sci fi thriller but gets a bit bogged down in its wn story Review postponed till nearer publication date June 14 It was so good that I am sad that I have reached the end f the trilogy just picked up an interest in any sci fi space pera stories I ve been Screwball Television: Critical Perspectives on Gilmore Girls on the lookout for goodnes I can add to my shelf And Crater Trueblood and the Lunar Rescue Company as far as sci fi and space Ya Gotta Believe!: My Roller-Coaster Life as a Screwball Pitcher and Part-Time father, and My Hope-Filled Fight Against Brain Cancer opera go did not disappoint It had all the action flying science danger and adventure a reader could want Easy to read intriguing plot it definitely kept my interest A few things confused me briefly but considering this is the third book in a trilogy and thenly Night's Pawn one I ve read I s pose everything would have clicked together for me if I read the first two books so I really shouldn t complain there sheepish grinPersonally I found somef the characters a little difficult to like than the plot Since Crater and Maria broke up in book 2 I m assuming most Firing the First Elder (Pioneers in the Pulpit Book 2) of what they did in the coursef book three was mope about They keep talking about how they love each ther to everyone except each ther and if that doesn t drive you batty after two dozen chapters nothing will The different races ie humans Umlaps crowhoppers Trainers were all set apart wonderfully but I had some trouble trying to differentiate which came from which planet Earth r the moon A bit information n that would have been nice It wasn t until the end The Secret Child of the book that I realized Crater himself was a citizenf the moon scratches head and shrugs The best characters hands down were the gillies Small slime thingys with an unnatural ability to hack any technology they are illegal and they know it Even though they talked I found myself likening them to Morph in Disney s Treasure Planet Fun all around And they re sarcastic which is a plusThere were a few inconsistencies that I noted that annoyed me and I can t leave this review without pointing them Japanese Schoolgirl Inferno: Tokyo Teen Fashion Subculture Handbook out Near the middlef the book Crater and his brother tell a lie to purchase the fuser they badly need for their mission and Crater says he doesn t like to tell lies Yet he easily makes no less than three lies throughout the rest f the book Also the character f the Colonel Maria s grandfather was confusing The author made him ut to be a hardened business man semi dedicated to family bu. By green lipped gene splicing scientists Maria's nly hope turns ut to be the very man she nce spurned Crater TruebloodCrater and the Lunar Rescue Company must rescue Maria before she joins forces with the lunatics who have taken her hostage and aim to make her ueenTurns Death by Inferior Design out than Maria is at stake the planet Earth majestically risingver the lunar horizon is in the crossh.

A great end to an amazing series I applaud you Mr Hickam A satisfying end to this trilogy Main characters are now about 20 years ld with love interests but nothing beyond kissing This review riginally published in Looking For a Good Book Rated 305 WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD SPOILER ALERT It s ne hundred years in the future and a wealthy family wns a mine n the moon The daughter f the family Maria Medaris is kidnapped by a group bent n destroying the Earth and taking ver the moon Maria is A Philosophy of Cinematic Art offered a high position within the terrorist group anffer which may save her life and that The Potato Hack: Weight Loss Simplified of those she loves Maria snly hope from the White House Years (Henry Kissingers Memoirs outside is Crater Trueblood a teen age boy whom Maria rejected when he professed his affections for her Will Crater come through Will Maria survive Will the Earth be destroyedCrater Trueblood and the Lunar Rescue Company readsn the ne hand like an ld fashioned space Scab opera along the lines Mike Marsr Tom Corbett It s got all the appropriate teenaged characters and a female bioengineered warrior and cool gadgets and cooler creatures such as the gillie And it s got danger at just about the highest level the threat In a World Created by a Drunken God of the destructionf the entire planet EarthOn the Indo No Kao other hand it s a rather slow moving story with characters that aren t very impressive Crater Trueblood isur hero and while he s steadfast and true we don t get the impression that he s going to rush right in to the thick f things to save the day His ride to save Maria which she anticipated upon her capture took three r four times longer than I expected With each passing chapter I thought to myself well now he s going to get there and save her but I kept being wrong In this he was very much the Giant Peach Yodel oppositef Mike Mars r Tom Corbett classic books in which the heroes jump from ne life threatening situation to another in pursuit f their goals Here there is nly ne and it takes a long time to get thereCrater Trueblood being the named hero in the title would seem to appeal to the teenage boy readers but it is Maria Medaris who is the fascinating character here She is captured for a particular reason which in itself is worthy f a story plot and forced to make some tough decisions which keep the reader n edge Crater n the Iniquity other hand just moves slowly and steadily forward dull but determinedThere is a great dealf honesty to these characters which is refreshing but instilling some excitem.
