Susan Leigh Noble: Summoned The Elemental #1

Re didn t seem to be any depth to this book Even the fight scenes came across as forced and the relationship between Val and Lina seemed to have only been included because romance is almost a given in most fantasy books these days If work was done on fleshing the characters and making the world the author has created appear vividly then this book could be uite goodOn a personal preference the fact that Lina is so afraid and hesitant to use her powers really bugged me I understand she s ighteen but hnestly if someone s trying to kill you wouldn t you want to survive using whatever means you had at your disposal Those type of characters really do bug meI won t be reading the next two books at stage Read the full review at I think this is going to be a nice series But this fell under the spell of so many first novels in series and had way too much character development front Celebrity Bachelor end story and sorry boring plot lines I realize what the author was trying to do and I applaud theffor. Na resists this unnatural feeling But her plans to stay in Zena are taken out of her control when she is kidnapped by gypsies and wakes in a foreign land The desire to travel north is as strong as ver She fears she will have no choice but to give into the compulsion When a raging fire prevents her return home she realizes she must find out once and for all what or who is summoning her On her journey Lina befriends.

Set in a mystical land this book was a refreshing change from many of the spin off paranormalfantasy books that have made their way into the market The characters were deep and interesting and the writing style was uniue and well done The story follows Lina as she finds herself fighting an urge to leave her known life behind and head north to the unknown Along the way she is captured by gypsies saved by a knight and makes friends with a motley assortment including a former thief and a large black dragon As a cat lover I specially loved the character Tosh who is Lina s faithful telepathic cat There were still a few grammaticalspelling Cassidys Kids (Maitland Maternity, errors in this book but overall I still felt it was worthy of 5 stars because the story made up for therrors I like the authors creativity in naming the telepathic cats are called STAC which is cats backwardsStory was good but I wasn t turning the pages lost in the story The promise is alright but the writing leaves something tone desired The. At the age of four Lina discovered she could start fires with a mere thought a trait which had died out long ago Cautioned by her telepathic cat Tosh she kept this Elemental power a secret to avoid being an outcast That was asy to do growing up in the remote grasslands of Zena Now an adult she had no plans to leave her beloved homeland So when a strange urge compels her to travel north to an unknown destination Li.

T but I just didn t get a whole lot out of this book until well into the middleHowever I think this has the potential to be a majorly awesome series I loved the main characters and can t wait to find out how she learns to kick tail in future books The plot was well thought out and the characters well developedI recommend this as a means to an nd Without this novel the rest of the series would be harder to understand You need to wade through this one to get to the good stuff Not to say this doesn t have good stuff because it does and I Wrangled (Whitehorse, MT: Chisholm Cattle Co., enjoyed thending very much But as a standalone book there is way too much time spend on character and plot development I like the story s premise but find it has formatting and grammatical Her Cowboy Hero (Refuge Ranch errors While I applaud the author sffort to create a new world her writing style and tone come off very modern day and a bit passive The characters don t jump off the page at you but they are still uite likable I probably won t read the rest of this series. An odd assortment of allies Together they battle mystical creatures and unnatural forces despite the fact that such magic had died out over 800 years ago Lina reluctantly begins to use her innate Elemental power as she becomes certain that someone is using magic against her When she discovers the shocking truth it will change her life in ways she could never imagineSummoned is the first book in The Elemental Trilo.
